In any history of the German army during WWII, the Panzer Divisions get most of the attention. This is unfortunate as all armies that achieve any success, do so as a combined arms organization. Therefore, when a source such as 'Panzergrenadier Divisions, 1939-1945' becomes available, those with an interest in the German army of WWII should get it for a deeper understanding of how the German army as able to do what it did. I recommend this book.

Great for wargamers and military buffs. IF you are looking for a definitive book with regards to equipment statistics look elesewhere though.

Nice book worth the purchase

Chris Bishop's Panzergrenadier Divisions 1939-45 offers an organizational outline, unit insignia, and brief history of each appropriate Wehrmacht unit. Even though the histories are not nearly as extensive as, for example, similar materials in the Stackpole series, they are easily understandable and competently done. Unfortunately, the photo selection is inadequate in number, occasionally questionable in captioning, almost completely generic, and seldom informative.Even more unfortunately, the artwork, bought from/supplied by Alcaniz Freson's S.A., is even less than generic - it is misinformative. The computer generated images which form nearly two thirds of Panzergrenadier Divisions' content have almost nothing to do with the unit histories except that a certain unit had such a vehicle in its inventory at some time. The camouflage and specific details of the vehicles are often based on a photograph known to be of another unit, and some vehicles even carry markings identifying them with other units than the one assigned to them by their caption. A few images are repeated and assigned to different units; others have the vehicle misidentified.When vehicles are used to illustrate a certain organization, a StuG-Batterie for example (page 111), the same image is repeated for each vehicle in the organization, leading to the false impression that each vehicle bore the same identifying number and camouflage pattern. Would it have been too much effort to individualize each vehicle with its proper number within the organization?I cannot fathom what audience Amber Books Ltd is addressing. Surely anyone interested in this topic will recognize the inadequacy of the book's photos and graphics and will expect more detailed information than the text provides. The photos and graphics are too small for this to serve as a coffee-table book.Good, unit specific photos and better artwork have long been available scattered about in other books, and this would have been an excellent opportunity to assemble them in one location along with reasonably thorough unit histories. This book is of minimum value, and more's the pity.

This history of the largest block women's organization in the United States is not only the story of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (DST), but also tells of the increasing involvement of black women in the political, social, and economic affairs of America. Founded at a time when liberal arts education was widely seen as either futile, dangerous, or impractical for blacks, especially women, DST is, in Giddings's words, a "compelling reflection of block women's aspirations for themselves and for society." Giddings notes that unlike other organizations with racial goals, Delta Sigma Theta was created to change and benefit individuals rather than society. As a sorority, it was formed to bring women together as sisters, but at the some time to address the divisive, often class-related issues confronting black women in our society. There is, in Giddings's eyes, a tension between these goals that makes Delta Sigma Theta a fascinating microcosm of the struggles of black women and their organizations. DST members have included Mary McLeod Bethune, Mary Church Terrell, Margaret Murray Washington, Shirley Chisholm, Barbara Jordan, and, on the cultural side, Leontyne Price, Lena Horne, Ruby Dee, Judith Jamison, and Roberta Flack. A great introduction to the history of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. I would recommend this as a good read for everyone interested in the Sorority, from interested ladies to Seasoned Sorors. It's always nice to remember where you came from.

I like the detailed information provided with respect to the sorority. I'd recommend this book to any woman interested in joining this particular sorority.

I didnt reeive the edition with the cover that's pictured which was a disappointment. But the content was the main part I needed.
