This book acted as an aid to a trip to the island of Kauai (cow-ee) prior to our trip there coming up in six months. The author, Trip Stevens went into much detail all around the island. I found this to be very helpful, especially to families travelling with children, which we are not, but to those who do will be helpful. In retrospect reading and viewing anything about this island was a good warm up for the trip. It also reminded me of things I shouldn't be doing, like pretending to be a professional hiker and suffering with muscle aches. The bottom line is relax and take in the island and it's Polynesian Paralysis you are overtaken by.
I've been to Kauai more than once, but this author is much more knowledgeable than I. I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the places I've been and the things that I've done while I smiled at the memories.However, my biggest smiles were reserved for the things that I now plan to do next month when I'm in Kauai. Thanks to the author, I may save some money, too!Shaka, bro!
We planned a trip to Kauai earlier this year, and this was the first book I bought. As its name implies, it is indeed brief, but it was very worthwhile. I ultimately purchased more books, but still re-referenced this book while still in the planning phases. It was helpful in narrowing down the places we ended up visiting while there. We were there for less than a week and had a great time. I think this book helped us make good choices about which places to visit.
This is a fine book. It helped me understand the overall concept of the Island but was not a "guidebook" per se. The title clearly states that it is brief and so it is. I felt like it was more a briefing than brief as in shorter. Given the price I was not unhappy to have purchased it and the pictures looked great on my pad. We had a lot of fun with that. It would not depend on it as my only guidebook.
I received a trip to Kauai as a gift. I didn't know much about Kauai, hence, the download.This ebook is short and very easy to read, but it's more than a travel brochure. It gives info on local courtesies that endear a tourist to the locals-and actions that will mark one as a bad tourist. One "endearing" idea is to volunteer for a morning or evening during your stay.Linguistic etiquette is included, along with foods and markets that will help the traveler get to know and love Kauai.
Kauai Brief was just the book that I needed. I have been planning to visit Hawaii for years. I just wasn't sure where to begin and what reliable sources I should use. Luckily, I came across bumped into one of this book. Everything I was looking for was given to me in short yet detailed information. I love the simplicity and the straight-to-the-point style of the guidelines and tips. After reading the following quote, I've decided I have to visit this island."The truth of the matter is that the beauty of a Kauai vacation is that the island is timeless."I enjoy native foods when I travel, and I look forward to trying the Hawaiian must-eats mentioned in the book. On top of my list is the Kalua Pork which, from the definition of it, tastes heavenly. The book also gave me a chance to make a list of the things to do. Topping my list is snorkeling Po'ipu Beach. I am also grateful for the convenient tips provided by Trip Stevens regarding accommodations, flight bookings, car rentals, safe beaches, cheap stores and things to do with kids and seniors. I will definitely carry this book with me during vacation.
Well written, easy to read guide to the island - I especially liked that he explained the difference betweenhow most people pronounce it, and how it is supposed to be pronounced.He encourages you to not create too tight of an itinerary, just relax and go with the flow...do what you want to do eachday as there are so many options of amazing things to see and do.
I brought along this text on my tablet so I could make sure I didn't miss anything major on our trip. I'm not the kind to scour over 300 pages of details to overbook my "relaxing trip" to Kauai. The text was laid out well enough that I was able to scan the sections that interested me, and get the basic information I needed.I went to Hawaii to relax and the tips and maps in here helped us to get that job done with ease.I really appreciated that it had links to where I could obtain more detail and information on particular topics if I really wanted the 300 page version.
