This book was not quite what I was looking for, but it was an enjoyable read and it did inspire me to make a little bear, so I would say it was well worth the money spent. It was just what it says, basics to bears. I was hoping there might be just a bit more in offerings in the animal face area than there was. The books all seem to be somewhat specialized, birds, dogs or strange imaginery animals. I was wishing for a bit of a range of faces, but it did not happen here. That is not at all the fault of the book, it was just a wish on my part that did not quite happen. The book was well written, the photos were helpful and overall if you are new to needle felting this book was a good place to start.

Excellent book. Great step-by-step pictures and details. Covers a wide array of felting projects and in a manner that makes the projects universally useful and not just single project oriented.

Anyone who has tried to learn to code as an adult, as I have, knows that it is like learning a second language, As with any language, the earlier you can learn it, the more proficient you will be, so it follows that teaching kids to code at an early age is the way to go.This book, in particular, is a pretty fun way to get started with coding. Even if your child is not going to become a computer programmer, a knowledge of coding will be an invaluable tool to have. At the very least, the ability to customize HTML and CSS for web pages is something that is likely to become a requirement for entry-level jobs, if it hasn't already.There is a lot packed into the 127 pages here. The author has written the book in a manner that, along with a multitude of illustrations, makes this potentially daunting subject very accessible, and the fun projects she has devised to teach basic principles of coding include:-- making a drawing app,-- creating a space game, and-- making a coin toss sim, and-- creating a digital pet, among others.Software is required to create the projects, and the book gives readers access to MicroWorldsEX (for both Mac and Windows) for that purpose. There is a free trial period after which the software is available at a discount. A benefit to using MicroWorldEX is that kids do not have to have access to the internet to use it, which is something parents will appreciate.The author's instructions for using the software are very clear and easy to follow. I particularly like the way she has included the idea of brainstorming and then making a "game plan" to help kids organize their thoughts about what they are going to create. Disorganization and coding do not play well together, so learning those concepts will help prevent a lot of frustration later. Although the book is geared for ages 7 - 11, the youngest ones may need some help.The main thing here is that kids will be able to learn correct coding syntax to create actions and animations that can be used in many applications. Those are skills they will use long after they've completed the projects in this book.

This book has no value. First thing one must do is download the program and it comes with the same instructions - plus it makes changes to some default settings. Better to teach children Microsoft "Paint". Then they can "code" on their computer at home too.

This book does not educate on coding. It simply provides steps for the computer and that's it. I expected it to provide resourceful knowledge to coding and not just provide steps and projects to do on the computer.

I like the easy going style, language and layout of this book. It's a great introduction to coding for kids who are interested or even those who may be and just don't know it yet. The book does a good job of easing the presumably young reader into a developer's mindset of planning, coding and debugging. The software of choice here is MicroWorlds EX. There is a free trial and you can also buy the unrestricted version for a fraction of the normal cost. I think the full purchase is worth it as long as the child plans to commit and stick to the program. Despite the cutesy art, seemingly easy language and targeted audience of the book, MicroWorlds is a robust coding tool that can definitely put a child on the path to mastering other more challenging languages. In fact, I think this book could be just as useful to adults as it is to children. As a developer myself, I know how hit or miss many "how to" or "Intro to..." tech books can be. Many tech authors don't do an effective job of teaching. Their tech books are hurt by convoluted wording, confusing and often unnecessary technical jargon or pacing that is either too slow or too brisk. The books are typically used more as reference guides by those who already know the material rather than learning guides for newbies. There are no such issues with this book. The pacing, language and projects in this book are all nicely executed. The completed projects will immediately boost confidence and provide noticeable results that will encourage young minds to reach higher.With the big push toward more STEM courses, kids need every advantage they can get as early as they can get them. As the book says early on, it used to be enough to read, write and do mathematics to be educated. These days, employers want more. Coding probably seems like typical "do I really need to learn this" elective learning. However, as the world continues moving deeper and deeper into the ever-evolving world of technology, it makes tons of sense to prepare children with as much knowledge as possible as early as possible. This book is one of many helpful tools to do just that. Definitely worth a look.

Insightful and thoroughly researched.Mr. Garland shatters the illusion that 'the times' have changed. He connects the dots that so much commentary treats only as a hazy and inexplicable 'loss of morality' or 'changing of the times'. He places our current morally degraded state into historical context, and in the most specific terms introduces us to the people who brought us here. Highly recommended.

The Merchants of Sin is a hard hitting book. It's a book that will keep you up at night and have you frantically read through pages, looking for the end of this nightmare that has yet to come. As it's mainline suggests, it seeks to show, and does so perhaps too well, the involvement of Jews in the subversion of Western values in America in the last 100 years. From Jews peddling smut in New York at the turn of the century to phycological manipulation and organized revolutions in the 50's and 60's, Garland's Merchant of Sin shows the true horrors of the Jew's quest for global supremacy.

My heart, mind and body was cultured through late 60's... and experienced so much of the dysfunction of the time and rebelliousness from what I remember. Fortunately, an outside 'Angel' I think saved me and my family on some level early in my childhood. Although turbulent, because of that 'Angel', I experienced on some level a more Christian upbringing and morality, and as I look back even experience what I feel were 'miracles'. Today, -- I have realized so much infiltration by the 'destroyers', as they have called themselves. But "they" didn't ruin it all.Reading this book, reveals the septic and putrid infection of mind spewing on our society, as I look back on my youth. The utter "sickness of mind" that seems to come out of 'Hell' (I don't know what else to call it) that blankets our culture and media kind of like in "The Matrix", where we can't discern what deceptions we are born and indoctrinated into. Having learned what a manufactured and intentional virus being spread on the minds of the young to pervert and maim... well, it just makes me embrace morality and goodness all the more, these I learned from the basic valued Christ taught, -- SIMPLE life of caring about family, children and nature. I feel sorry and pity for these 'Jews', what kind of upbringing and life could they have when it seems their only goal is to 'destroy, pervert, debase and murder' the moral, caring, and Christian culture. What a dark and tortured mind these people must have.Thank you so very much Benjamin Garland for writing this "VERY disturbing, but incredibly informative and well written book. Sadly, I realized when reading this book.... the 'majority' of moral, traditional, Constitutional 'Bill of Rights' mind had, and have no idea what "demonic minds" were on the attack and how far they would go... but, too many have fallen asleep. Jesus said "Know Thine Enemy".... WELL THIS IS THE WAY TO KNOW THEM.... read this book.!

I purchased this book but didn't start reading until recently. I finished it within a week. One topic that stood out was the so-called Nazi book burning propaganda that we are all so familiar with. If only American Evangelical Christians today were aware of the smut those books contained, the burning of them would make sense. Chapter V deals with the people and deeds that led up to the "Hirschfeld bonfire", and much more. That chapter alone would be worth the price. Only someone in total denial could read this book and not accept the blunt truth within.

Also know this, holocaust was Rooseveltâ€™s and his general sonâ€™s brainstorm in order to solicit sympathy for the mongrel Canaanites and to dredge up lies against Germany so that FDR could gain support for the wars he so desperately wanted to wage. Read Germanyâ€™s War by John Wear and start opening your eyes.

I was a big fan of The Party so was keen to read Asia'a Reckoning. It is hard not to see the geopolitical center of gravity having shifted from the Atlantic to the Pacific and moving incrementally further east by the day. As such, a familiarity with the history of regional conflict and how the balance of power is evolving is increasingly important to understand what is going on in the world and some of the why's as well. Asia's Reckoning details the post WWII political dynamics of China, Japan and the US relative to one another. The author has accumulated a mass of transcripted conversations that give the in the room flavor of diplomatic and senior official relationships throughout the period. The author focuses on the wartime history, the diplomatic relations and the power dynamics over the last 70 years. The book definitely helps make sense of current political headlines as well as give clarity to the unfamiliar reader about why certain issues are so sensitive.The author sets the stage with the post WWI landscape with how the allies decided national boundaries in Asia as well as constructed Japan's pacifist constitution. The author just moves chronologically through the decades describing the relations between the US and China, China and Japan and Japan and the US in each period. It is quite depressing as the positions seem quite ridiculous to a western observer. The author describes the ebb and flow of sentiment both from the US as well as Japan about the strengthening of China. The author spends a lot of time discussing the internal political calculations of the various countries as well. In terms of people focused on, the author of course focuses on Kissinger and Nixon opening up China Relations. There is some time spent with Obama as well. He focuses on the Japan dynasty political families including Abe's and in particular on Koizumi who broke the status quo by visiting the Yasukuni Shrine. For China after describing foreign policy pragmatism outlined by Mao and Deng, he focuses on the tone set by Jiang Zemin which filtered through Hu and Xi.For anyone who has read the headlines on China Taiwan issues, or the South China Sea spats, or relations between China and Japan and wants a better background to the substance of the conflicts, this is well worth reading. After one reads it, one probably asks themselves, are you kidding me? The aggressive positions taken on its sovereignty from China have clearly evolved as a function of their relative power. That isn't surprising but the way in which it has changed the nature of all discussions can be seen through the diplomatic discussions on the same topic decade by decade. It is hard not to see potential conflict in the region in the next decade despite it being in no one's interest. But political sore points have become increasingly dug in despite many seeming to become increasingly irrational; like constantly blaming one another for a war where nobody who participated in it is alive... In any case, I definitely enjoyed reading this and definitely recommend it.

For those with patience for history McGregorâ€™s work is the clearest treatment you will find of the interlocking play of America, Japan and China in the last seventy years. His knowledge of each is deep, balanced, and non-judgmental. His projections believable â€“ a masterwork.McGregorâ€™s comment: â€œTracking Chinese politics is sometimes akin to the work of an archaeologist who must painstakingly piece together ancient artifacts, gathering a shard of information here and there over an extended period of time until the murky outlines of a past event gradually come into view.â€He does the same for Japanese and American politics a brilliant piece of journalistic research showing the turbulent and dangerous interplay of world powers with shifting strengths and weaknesses up to the current cast of Xi Jinping, ShinzÅ Abe, and Donald J. Trump.

Very interesting book, covers the high-level diplomatic history for the last few decades. It focuses especially on the hard-line nationalists in both China and Japan, and their influence on the relationship. I had not realized that the Japanese nationalists were so influential in Japan's relations with China. The author seems to be very well sourced, per his long career as a journalist in this region.Given the long time period that is covered in the book, it's very comprehensive. However, as a non-expert on the region, I would have liked to have had more analysis on the political environment in Japan, to understand how the nationalists could have so much influence in the LDP. Also, I would have liked more detail on the economic / trade side- I believe there is only one mention of the WTO, for example. Also not much on espionage or military matters in general.

I have known Richard for almost 15 years. The quality and detail of his writing never ceases to amaze me. FT's loss is our gain!

This book, which contains exhaustively researched historical facts, reads like a superbly written novel, keeping me captivated and helping me better appreciate the complicated histories of modern China, Japan and the United States' role in shaping the post WW II relationship between China and Japan.For example, in the book, the author explained in vivid details the dynamism of some of the realities such as this: "Not only was Tokyo battling Beijing and segments of the U.S. government, but it was also facing an increasingly agitated South Korea."In the era of President Donald Trump, this books provides guidance on how to read the tea-leafs in the shadows of the contemporary Sino-Japan relationship and how to filter the noise from Washington D.C. involving that relationship, which is more important than ever in the calculus of maintaining peace, stability and continued prosperity in the greater Asia (and the rest of the world). While the book is densely packed with historical facts, the author gave life to those historical facts, making it "easier" to slough through the superbly written book.This book provides context for the current events that are unfolding in China, Japan and the United States of America's involvement in those two neighboring countries. Mr. McGregor exhibited his keen and profound understanding of those three world actors.
